Data access, retention & your controls
Promise reads connected Gmail or Outlook messages, headers, participants, timestamps, threads, and attachment details only to find commitments, follow-ups, details, and evidence. Promise does not analyze attachment file contents.
Mail history controls are not available yet. The recent storage window still applies. Older storage needs verified Plus access and your explicit range choice, not just a purchase. Existing user notes and promises are retained on downgrade; cleanup of existing older mail needs separate approval. OAuth tokens are encrypted before storage, and connections use encrypted transport.
AI processing uses providers such as Azure OpenAI with only the content and context needed for the feature. Private content is not used to train shared or public AI models.
Promise can draft replies, but it never sends email unless you review and explicitly confirm the message.
You can revoke Google or Microsoft access through provider account controls or available Promise settings. Export or deletion requests go to privacy@usepromise.ai.
